English for Speakers of Other Languages

The Refugee Development Center has experience in the following (past and current) English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs:

    • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes: The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program at the Refugee Development Center embraces a comprehensive approach to language, laying special emphasis on developing students’ reading, writing, oral, and listening skills. Four levels of free evening classes are designed to teach critical everyday interaction skills while helping students advance to higher levels of English.
    • Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) Class: This English language-learning class is geared especially for new arrivals. In addition to English language acquisition, VESL also focuses on providing for newcomers’ basic needs.
    • Conversation Partners: As part of the RDC’s ESOL program, community volunteers are invited to join our classes for special evenings of fun and English conversation practice!
